The Hill of the Pigeons Pavurala Konda is a hillock lying to the west of Bhimli, at a distance of about 24 kilometers from Vizag. Spread over a 10-12 acre area, and located at a height of about 168 meters above mean sea level. Pavuralakonda is bordered by a chain of hills on the southwest and northwest and it offers a beautiful view of the curved linear coastline with a crescent shaped valley. This ancient Buddhist settlement found here is estimated to have witnessed human habitation between the 1st century BC and the 2nd century AD.
The excavations highlighted Sixteen rock cut cisterns for impounding rain water which are dated between 3rd Century BC and 2nd Century AD. Also found are the foundations of viharas, circular chaityagrihas, votive stupas and halls.
